Raw Food Recipe for Just Like Cheesecake – A Healthy, Delicious Dessert!

by Jennifer Betesh

This is such a great raw food recipe – especially if you are trying to make a healthy dessert for non-raw foodists – believe me, they will be sold on raw foods after trying this fantastic creation! In fact, it really does taste Just Like Cheesecake!

This is a raw vegan dessert, and it really does taste Just Like Cheesecake!

When you make this at home, you might want to double the recipe and make 2 cheesecakes at once – they tend to preserve fairly well in the freezer and it saves you having to make it twice! I learned how to make this myself at the Raw Food Class offered by the Spa Resorts in Koh Samui, Thailand. Now you can enjoy this recipe from the comfort of your own home!

There are 3 parts to making this raw cake: 1) the crust, 2) the filling and 3) the topping.

Raw Cheesecake CRUST Recipe

Ingredients (choose organic if possible):

  • Macadamia Nuts – 2 cups (soaked overnight)
  • Dried Figs – 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Raisins (white) – 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Dried Coconut Flakes – 1/4 cup
  1. Sprinkle the coconut flakes along the bottom of your pie plate.
  2. Blend together the macadamia nuts, raisins and figs in a food processor and create the ‘crust’ with this mixture, carefully molding into an even layer on top of the coconut flakes.
  3. Refrigerate to let set while making the filling.

Raw Cheesecake Main Pie FILLING Recipe

Ingredients (choose organic if possible):

  • Raw Cashews – 3 cups (soaked overnight)
  • Freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice – 3/4 cup
  • Raw Honey – 1/2 cup
  • Coconut Milk (fresh is best) – 1/2 cup
  • Himalayan or Sea Salt – 1/2 tsp.
  • Whole Vanilla Bean (take out the seeds)- 1/2 each
  1. Mix all ingredients together in a high-power blended (like Vita-Mix) or food processor.
  2. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. Pour this mixture evenly over the crust.
  4. You can add more fresh lemon or lime to taste, as desired.
  5. Place the pie in the freezer to let set while making the topping.

Raw Cheesecake Strawberry TOPPING Recipe

Ingredients (choose organic if possible):

  • Fresh Strawberries – 2 cups (can use frozen as a substitute)
  • Dried Figs – 1/2 cup, soaked overnight and chopped
  • Raisins (white) – 1/4 cup, soaked overnight and chopped
  • Raw Honey – 1 Tbsp.
  • Himalayan or Sea Salt – 1 pinch.

Raw Food Recipe for Raw Energy Balls – Fast & Easy!

by Jennifer Betesh
Raw Energy Ball - Pure Heaven & Good for You!

Raw Energy Ball – Pure Heaven & Good for You!

This is something that I just threw together with what I had at home.. You can use pretty much whatever dried fruits you like as long as they are soaked in advance. Don’t be afraid to try your own combinations and see what magical blend you can create!

Raw Energy Balls are great for kids, perfect for traveling, and make a nice desert for the entire family. You can also bring them to a picnic or share with your work colleagues – even people who are afraid of the raw food diet seem to love them 🙂

Always check your nuts and dried fruits for any signs of mold before you soak them. If you see any white fuzz or obvious mold, it’s best to throw out the whole container and buy fresh again. Mold is the biggest thing to watch out for in dried fruits. With raw cashews, always split the cashews in half and check the insides – that is where the mold usually hides. Again, if you see any mold, get rid of them!

Raw Organic Energy Ball Recipe

Try to soak in a glass or wooden bowl!

Try to soak in a glass or wooden bowl!

Ingredients:

  • Raw almonds (peeled) – 1-1.2 cups
  • Raw dried dates (pitted) – 15-20 dates
  • Dries apricots – 8-10 apricots
  • Fresh tamarind (or tamarind paste) – about 1/3 cup (paste – 1/8 cup)
  • Virgin Organic Coconut Oil (3 Tbsp.)
  • Himalayan salt or sea salt, to taste
  • Organic Coconut Flakes
Once soaked, your dried fruits should look plump again!

Once soaked, your dried fruits should look plump again!

Instructions:

  1. Soak Overnight: 1 -1.5 cups almonds; 15-20 dates (pitted); 8-10 dried apricots
  2. After about 12-15 hours, rinse your soaked items and put aside.
  3. Take even amounts of almonds to date to apricot ratios and blend them up in your mini-food processor. I usually add a pinch of Himalayan salt or sea salt and about 2 tsp. of fresh tamarind to each batch. For the above amount soaked, I would add about 1/3 – 1/4 cup fresh tamarind in total.
  4. Mixing up some Raw Energy Love!

  5. Once the whole lot is blended, put it back into a bowl, and add about 3 Tbsp. virgin organic cold-pressed coconut oil.
  6. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly with a spoon. (Your blend should be nice and creamy with no chunks of fruit or nut. If it’s chunky, put it back in the food processor for another round.)
  7. Have another bowl ready with dried coconut flakes, in total about 1 cup of flakes.
  8. Take your blended mix and form into small balls with your hands, then roll the ball around the coconut flakes until covered. Continue all all your mix is gone.
  9. Energy Ball Love

    Energy Ball Love

  10. Let the energy balls refrigerate overnight or at least 6 hours just to form well and to allow the flavors to blend.
  11. Then, start to share your Raw Energy Ball Love!

Tamarind has a wonderful sweet and sour taste that adds a different element to the sweetness of the dates. (If you can’t find it fresh, try to look for a tamarind paste in your local Asian market.)

This recipe makes about 15 Energy Balls. Preparation time: About 1 hour.

Liver Flush Detox Drink – Recipe for a Daily Liver Cleanse

by Jennifer Betesh

In an earlier blog post, I talked about the Liver/Gallbladder Flush and outlined the recipe to naturally release gallstones from the liver. In this post, I want to share with you the recipe for a standard Liver Flush Detox Drink. Think of this drink as a much more mild version of the actual gallstone flush…in fact, do not expect any gallstones to come out from this drink as it is not strong enough to trigger that reaction in the body. This drink is perfect for those who are looking to do some occasional mild detoxing of the liver from time to time or for anyone who is preparing to do a fast or cleanse as this drink helps the body to begin a gentle phase of pre-cleansing.

All information in this article is for educational purposes only.
It is not for the diagnosis, treatment, prescription or cure of any disease or health condition.

Recipe for a natural, gentle Liver Flush Cleanse

If you feel unwell after you have had this drink, it is a sign that your liver is detoxing rapidly and for sure you would benefit from additional cleansing, whether it be colon cleansing or liver cleansing. You can have this drink once a day for a period of time when you are working on your liver, and if you enjoy the taste, feel free to have it every day! It is all natural and a fantastic blend of Mother Nature’s cures!

Simple Ingredients for a Powerful Cleanse

  • Fresh ginger, 1/2″
  • Cayenne Pepper, dash to taste
  • Freshly squeezed orange juice, 2 cups

Put all ingredients in a blender, blend and drink immediately. Think about all the good you are doing for your body!! Enjoy!

Keep in mind that freshly squeezed apple juice is also an excellent liver cleanser as well as dark leafy bitter green juices, so feel free to switch it up a bit if you start to get bored from the Liver Flush Drink. Remember too that everything you eat and drink which is natural will be good for you body!

Healthy Liver Flush Drink

Gallstone Flush & Liver Detox – Recipe & Cleanse Info

by Jennifer Betesh

With the exception of the skin, the liver is the largest organ in the body and performs over 500 functions, far more than any other organ in the body. We cannot be healthy or recover from illness without a strong, clean well-functioning liver. If the liver is unable to carry out its full function, not only does it become congested and weak; all other organs will be more challenged as a result.

All information in this article is for educational purposes only.
It is not for the diagnosis, treatment, prescription or cure of any disease or health condition.

Imagine how much happier you liver feels after releasing these!

If you want to do more specific liver cleansing, you can try a Liver/Gallstone Flush at home. This flush can be done in just 24 hours, so it is easy to fit into a busy schedule. It is recommended that you have done a full 7-day cleanse prior to this flush, mainly to take the toxic pressure off your organs and to be sure that your body is alkaline.

In the days before the cleanse, it is important to avoid fried and fatty foods so your liver is not over-worked or stressed. Avoid avocado, cheese, nuts and fatty meats for at least 3 to 5 days before this cleanse. If you work a normal Monday – Friday work week, it is best to plan to do this cleanse on Friday night, that way you have the entire weekend to rest, relax and recover.

Mix Olive Oil and Fresh Lemon Juice in a bottle

The most common recipe to use for this cleanse comes from Dr. Hulda Clark’s book A Cure for All Diseases. If this is the first time you are trying this cleanse, I recommend that you use this formula, outlined below. If you release more than 200 stones in the first flush, it is recommended that you repeat the cleanse every 6-8 weeks until you have less than 20 stones come out. It is believed that you may have to release up to 2,000 stones to rid yourself of allergies linked to liver congestion. On my first Gallstone/Liver Flush, I released 600 stones – no joke!

Please note that with Dr. Clark’s recipe, she recommends using ornithine to help you sleep and she also recommends to do a parasite cleanse before you do the Gallstone Flush. If you want to do those things, that’s ok; personally I have never used ornithine and I’ve done this cleanse 13 times in the past 10 years. I did not do a parasite cleanse initially, although I have done them since…in my opinion you do not have to do a parasite cleanse prior to this flush, but admittedly you may get better results if you do so.

Preparation

Eat a diet high in alkaline-forming foods and low in fats for at least 3-5 days before the cleanse.

Help to gently prepare the liver by having a glass of fresh apple juice every day for 1 week prior to the cleanse. Apple juice helps to dissolve the stones.

Gallstone Live Flush Ingredients

  • Epsom salts (Magnesium Sulfate): 4 tablespoons. (You can usually buy this at your local pharmacy.)
  • Olive oil: 1/2 cup or 125 ml (light olive oil is easier to get down).
  • Fresh pink grapefruit: 1 large or 2 small, enough to squeeze 1/2 cup (125 ml) juice. (Or use 7-8 fresh lemons/limes: squeezed into 1/2 cup juice.)
  • 1 liter jar with lid.

Gallstone Liver Flush Instructions

Choose a day like Friday or Saturday for the cleanse, since you will be able to rest the next day. Take no medicines, vitamins or pills that you can do without; they could prevent success. Stop the parasite program too, the day before. Eat a no-fat breakfast and lunch such as cooked cereal, fruit, fruit juice, bread and preserves or honey (no butter or milk). This allows the bile to build up and develop pressure in the liver. Higher pressure pushes out more stones.

Mix Epsom Salts and Water, marking the bottles with a black marker to know how much to drink each time

2:00 PM. Do not eat or drink after 2 o’clock. If you break this rule you could feel quite ill later. Get your Epsom salts ready. Mix 4 Tbsp. in 3 cups (750 ml) water and pour this into a container or jar. This makes four servings, ¾ cup (185 ml) each. Set the jar in the refrigerator to get cold (this is for convenience and taste only). Note: I also make the 9:45pm drink described below at 2pm and I put it in the fridge, ready to drink later. Making all the drinks at my last meal makes me feel more committed to do the cleanse, and I can prepare everything while not feeling hungry. I highly recommend that you do this too, and do not allow any re-negotiation to skip the cleanse for another day just because you feel slightly hungry at 6pm.

6:00 PM. Drink one serving (¾ cup) of the Epsom salts and water drink. If you did not prepare this ahead of time, mix 1 tbs. in ¾ cup water now. You may add 1/8 tsp. vitamin C powder or 1/4 fresh lemon squeezed to improve the taste. You may also drink a few mouthfuls of water afterwards or rinse your mouth.

8:00 PM. Repeat by drinking another ¾ cup (185 ml) of Epsom salts and water drink. Get your bedtime chores done. The timing is critical for success.

9:45 PM. Pour ½ cup (measured) olive oil into the pint jar. Squeeze the citrus fruit (fresh grapefruit, lime or lemon) by hand into the measuring cup. Remove pulp with fork. You should have at least ½ cup. Add this to the olive oil. Close the jar tightly with the lid and shake hard until watery. Do not drink it yet!

Now visit the bathroom one or more time, even if it makes you late for your ten o’clock drink. Don’t be more than 15 minutes late. You will get fewer stones.

10:00 PM. Drink the potion you have mixed. Take it all to your bedside if you want, but drink it standing up. Get it down within 5 minutes (fifteen minutes for very elderly or weak persons).

Lie down immediately. You might fail to get stones out if you don’t. The sooner you lie down the more stones you will get out. Be ready for bed ahead of time. Don’t clean up the kitchen. As soon as the drink is down walk to your bed and lie down on your right side with your knees pulled up close to your chest. Try to think about what is happening in the liver. Try to keep perfectly still for at least 20 minutes. You may feel a train of stones traveling along the bile ducts like marbles. There is no pain because the bile duct valves are open (thank you Epsom salts!). Go to sleep, you may fail to get stones out if you don’t. Try to sleep in this position.

Next morning. Upon awakening (6:00 am) take your third dose of the Epsom salts and water drink. If you have indigestion or nausea wait until it is gone before drinking the Epsom salts. You may go back to bed. Don’t take this potion before 6:00 am.

8:00 am (2 Hours Later.) Take your fourth (the last) dose of the Epsom salts and water. You may go back to bed again.

After 2 More Hours you may eat. Start with fruit juice (see note below). Half an hour later eat fruit (see note below). One hour later you may eat regular food but keep it light. By supper you should feel recovered.

*NOTE – Fresh apple juice is the best juice to break the fast. At 10:00am, make fresh apple juice using 5-6 large apples in a juicer and drink it. The apple juice helps dissolve gallstones and is a nice transition for the liver from the detox back to normal eating. After 30 minutes, prepare a chopped apple salad or a plain apple smoothie using 3-4 apples (with the skin is ok). If feeling unwell, stay with apples and apple juice for the entire day. Only transition to light foods, salads and regular eating when you are feeling good again.

How well did you do? Expect diarrhea in the morning. Use a flashlight to look for gallstones in the toilet with the bowel movement. Look for the green kind since this is proof that they are genuine gallstones, not food residue. Only bile from the liver is pea green. The bowel movement sinks but gallstones float because of the cholesterol inside. Count them all roughly, whether tan or green. You will need to total 2000 stones before the liver is clean enough to rid you of allergies or bursitis or upper back pains permanently. The first cleanse may rid you of them for a few days, but as the stones from the rear travel forward, they give you the same symptoms again. You may repeat cleanses at two week intervals. Never cleanse when you are [acutely] ill.

Sometimes the bile ducts are full of cholesterol crystals that did not form into round stones. They appear as a “chaff” floating on top of the toilet bowl water. It may be tan colored, harboring millions of tiny white crystals. Cleansing this chaff is just as important as purging stones.

How safe is the liver cleanse? It is very safe. My opinion is based on over 500 cases, including many persons in their seventies and eighties. None went to the hospital; none even reported pain. However it can make you feel quite ill for one or two days afterwards, although in every one of these cases the maintenance parasite program had been neglected. This is why the instructions direct you to complete the parasite and kidney cleanse programs first.

CONGRATULATIONS

You have taken out your gallstones without surgery! I like to think I have perfected this recipe, but I certainly can not take credit for its origin. It was invented hundreds, if not thousands, of years ago, THANK YOU, HERBALISTS!

Gallstones can be flushed easily and naturally with no pain!

This procedure contradicts many modern medical viewpoints. Gallstones are thought to be formed in the gallbladder, not the liver. They are thought to be few, not thousands. They are not linked to pains other than gallbladder attacks. It is easy to understand why this is thought: by the time you have acute pain attacks, some stones are in the gallbladder, are big enough and sufficiently calcified to see on X-ray, and have caused inflammation there. When the gallbladder is removed the acute attacks are gone, but the bursitis and other pains and digestive problems remain.

Gallstones Released Naturally

The truth is self-evident. People who have had their gallbladder surgically removed still get plenty of green, bile-coated stones, and anyone who cares to dissect their stones can see that the concentric circles and crystals of cholesterol match textbook pictures of “gallstones” exactly.

Rasayana Raw Food Vegan Restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand – Yum!

by Jennifer Betesh
Rasayana Retreat, Bangkok

Rasayana Retreat, Bangkok

I’ve just got to tell you guys about this amazing restaurant in case you didn’t know, yes there is a 100% raw food restaurant in Bangkok – Rasayana Retreat, just off of Sukhumvit Soi 39 near the Emporium Shopping Mall. It is well worth the trip.

Raw Thai Pasta

Raw Thai Pasta

They have great juices, soups, salads, mains and desserts – all at very reasonable prices.

My favorites are the Hawaiian Pizza, the Thai Pasta, the Thai Lemongrass (Tom Kha) Soup and the Strawberry cake, just to name a few.

The Thai pasta noodles are made from strips of coconut flesh and zucchini; the sauce is made fresh using tomato, beet root, chili, garlic, ginger, raisins, macadamia nuts and kaffir lime leaf. It’s a must-try for raw food visitors to Thailand!

Always something new to try!

Always something new to try!

The Tom Kha soup is a blended raw soup made with coconut water, coconut flesh, lemongrass, galangal, lime, kaffir lime leaves, avocado, miso and salt to taste. Wow!

You’ve gotta taste it to experience it for yourself! They offer daily specials as well.

Nice healthy outdoor setting

Nice healthy outdoor setting

Best of all is they do great takeaways, so what I normally do is go there on my last night in Bangkok and order takeaways for my long flights, that way I have beautiful fresh raw food for my plane journey. They give you all the salad dressings in separate containers and I’ve never had a problem taking any of it on the plane.

Rasayana also some yummy raw snacks for sale like Macadamia Nut Bread, Raw Brownies, Raw Donuts, Beet Root Cookies and Seed Bars, so stock up while you’re there!

You can find healthy food in Bangkok 🙂 Let’s all support Rasayana so they stay around for a long time to come!

To get to Rasayana Raw Food Vegan Vegetarian Restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand, take the sky train to Phrom Prom station, and exit towards Soi 39. From Soi 39, you can take a tuk tuk taxi directly to Rasayana for 30 Baht. It’s about a 5-minute ride or a 15-minute walk.

Tell the manager, Norah Jones, that J.lo from Koh Samui sent you 🙂

Raw Food Recipe for Thai Green Papaya Salad or ‘Som Tam’ Salad – Video

by Jennifer Betesh

Fast, simple and easy Thai Green Papaya (or som tam) salad – what a treat! But, I think I forgot to add fresh lime juice in the recipe, so just remember to add that at home kids, thanks!! In Thailand, green papayas are sold everywhere, but if you do not have access to them at home, try using shredded cucumber or zucchini instead. Our favorite raw food tool to make the shreds is sold right here on healthybliss.net – go to the store to buy one now!

The ingredients you need for this recipe are: fresh garlic, fresh chili, lime, green papaya, tomato or cucumber, Bragg’s Liquid Amino Acids and some Himalayan salt to taste. Green papaya is full of digestive enzymes and is very good for a healthy, strong digestive system!

How to Make Green Smoothies: Recipe with Superfoods

by Jennifer Betesh

Yes, I know, me and my green smoothies! But I’ve added some great ingredients to my smoothies in recent months, so I have to share my latest recipes. First let me explain that a green smoothie is blended in a blender, not juiced through a juicer. So as long as you have a blended, you are good to go. Then all you need is about 5 minutes of preparation time and you’re ready to enjoy!

Just so you understand, the main ingredients of a green smoothies are dark leafy greens, fruit and water. Generally speaking people do not add any dairy, but that is entirely up to you! Keep reading for more details…

Why green smoothies you might ask? Well there has been a lot of research to show that when the fibers of the dark leafy greens are blended into very small pieces, the body is able to absorb more nutrition from them. Also green smoothies provide a fantastic source of fiber in general and are very easily digested by the body. Finally, they are fast, easy and fun and very easily added to a busy day. You can sip them on the go, take them to work, make them for friends and enjoy so much variety of live foods – what a great treat for your body! I also think they are great way to add nutritional supplements to your diet – you simply throw them in and blend (see recipe below).

Even if you change NOTHING else to your diet and simply add one green smoothie a day, you can FEEL better and your body can start to CLEANSE and HEAL.

Many experts agree that the main nutritional component lacking in the Standard American Diet (SAD) today are dark leafy greens. They are very high in minerals, full of fiber and chlorophyll, and a great source of protein as well. Where do you think the cow, giraffe, buffalo, ape, elephant and moose get their protein? From the power of greens!!!

So I share with you now my latest DaVinci of the green smoothie world:

Dark Leafy Greens Kale, boy choy, beet leaves, celery leaves, dandelion leaf, parsley, mint, pumpkin vines – whatever! Get creative. Try to add variety to your greens, so rotate what you buy every week, or even better, buy fresh every day! I would normally add about 3-4 large leaves of kale and 1/2 bunch of parsley, just as an average.

Fresh Sprouts This is my new secret ingredient that I absolutely LOVE! How many people know that sprouts are good for you, but just don’t like the taste and texture of them? Well now you can put them in your smoothie, blend, and presto – you don’t even know they are there! But what a great source of enzymes and life force energy!! If you are interested in making your own sprouts at home, see my previous entry for instructions. Usually I add about 1/2 cup. Sometimes more, just depends.

Fruit I prefer to use sweet fruits in my smoothies, but you can also use savory fruits such as cucumber, tomato, or zucchini. At the moment I am enjoying dragon fruit and banana. I generally will add 1 whole dragon fruit plus about 2-3 bananas. Again, get creative, and bring variety in. Passion fruit are GREAT in a smoothie!

Cold water About 1/2 cup to 1 cup, depending on how thick you like your smoothies. If you don’t add water, you can eat the smoothie like a soup, many people do that. The cold water adds a nice overall temperature to the smoothie; if everything is at room temperature it can taste less refreshing to me. Ice makes the smoothie too cold and is not generally recommended for good digestion. Dairy products would be optional as a replacement here, but the smoothie is so good as is, why add mucous-forming dairy?

Hemp Protein This is a powdered supplement which I am really enjoying in my smoothies these days. Adds great fiber to the bowel and protein for the body. I use about 1 tbsp.

Ground flax seeds An incredible source of fiber and full of omegas. Best way to grind them is buy the flax seeds and then grind them in your coffee grinder or food processor. Once ground, they must be keep refrigerated; otherwise the oils opened up from the grinding will turn rancid. So make a batch and keep it in a jar in the fridge. About 1 tbsp.

Whole flax seeds I personally like the texture of them in the smoothie, but you will absorb a lot more nutrition from the ground seeds. To me the smoothies tastes more filling with some whole flax. About 1 tbsp.

Spirulina Powder I personally think spirulina powder tastes disgusting so I have always found it hard to fit into my diet, but the beauty of the green smoothies is that you can’t taste it!! The taste of the fruit generally overpowers the overall taste. Spirulina is a great source of minerals. About 1 tsp.

Probiotics I add my probiotics (or natural bacterial supplements) to my smoothie by opening up the capsule and dumping the powder right in. So easy!

Oils Usually I add coconut oil to my drink, but I also rotate between hemp oil and flax seed oil. These oils are all fantastic sources of essential fatty acids and also very good for proper bowel function. Despite what the media and mass marketed diet programs have told us, we DO need good fats in our diet! I usually add about 2-3 tbsp. Use variety and have fun!

I hope you see all the value added to your diet from just this basic, simple smoothie recipe!! The beauty of it is that you can try different combinations and even try different ingredients, like bee pollen, honey, agave or other super green powders. Whatever works for you!
