Top 11 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. What kind of blender do you use and recommend for making healthy smoothies?
I personally use both a Vitamix 5200 and a Blendtec Designer Series (one is in USA and one in Europe since I go back and forth). Both are great. For you, I recommend any high speed blender with a good warranty that fits in your budget. Remember, a smoothie made in a cheap blender is better than no smoothie at all! For a complete blender buying guide check out my Battle of the Blenders article.
2. What kind of juicer do you use and recommend?
I personally use an Omega 8004 juicer and love-love-love it because it extracts a large volume of juice and is super easy to clean. If you’re in the market for a new juicer, check out my article on What’s the Best Juicer & How to Choose a Juicer.
3. How did you become a Certified Health Coach? Can I do it too?
One of the things I did was I attended the Institute For Integrative Nutrition and highly recommend it. The program can be done from anywhere in the world and takes 1 year to complete. Download the catalog and get the full details here.
4. I want to do a detox. Can you help?
Yes! For this, I highly recommend that you book an Iridology Analysis with me. From the reading, we gain a much better understand of your overall health and well-being, if there are any areas of inflammation or toxicity, any absorption issues or mineral deficiencies, and if there are circulation (blood and lymph) issues. With that, I can determine what is the best detox plan for you and what is the safest order of detox for your specific issues. I will also ask whether you prefer to do a detox at home or with a group, if you are comfortable doing colonics or enemas, if you have access to a juicer and how much you can afford to spend. I will always try to give you options that are very reasonable, affordable and practical.
My goal is to get you feeling better and experiencing results in the shortest period of time possible but while being safe and still feeling good. The point is not to suffer! We work together to get you the results you want. I have over 16 years in working with juice fasting, colon cleansing, heavy metal detoxing, kidney detoxing, liver detoxing, skin detoxing, oxygen therapy, water fasting. In Thailand, I worked at various detox spas for years helping to support people through their cleansing programs, providing Iridology Assessments and giving talks on how to be healthy back at home. I am constantly trying new programs on myself so I can best help my clients.
Your success is my #1 priority!
5. What is Iridology and how can it help me?
Iridology is the science of the iris, or colored portion, of the eye. The iris is connected to every organ and tissue of the body by way of the brain and central nervous system through the optic nerve. The optic nerve connects to the central nervous system (CNS) which is the main communication link to everything that goes on in the body.
Think of your brain as your body’s ‘hard drive;’ it remembers everything that ever happened to your body. Your iris is then like the ‘file folder.’ So ‘reading’ the iris to find out what is going on in the body is similar to how one reads a computer screen to access what’s in a computer.
When I do a reading via Skype or email, you receive instructions on how to take your iris photos with an iPhone or digital camera and you email the pictures to me. Once I approve them as acceptable for a reading, we schedule a time to meet on Skype or I provide a date when the email report will be sent.
After looking at your photos, I first identify your general body constitution as well as your inherent strengths and weaknesses. It is important to know this information in order to have a better understanding of the body as a whole. In Iridology, we have 3 main constitutions – lymphatic, biliary and hematogenic. Just knowing this alone tells us a lot about your general characteristics for health.
From there I go on to assess more specific and unique characteristics to your eyes. During the reading, I give you a good, clear understanding of where your body is at in terms of strengths, weakness, imbalance and any areas of toxicity or inflammation. I make recommendations for improvement that may involve doing some form of a detox (colon cleanse, heavy metal detox, kidney cleanse, skin cleanse, etc) and a change in diet that may include adding certain foods to your diet and reducing/minimizing others.
Schedule your online appointment by Skype, phone or email at Book Your Iridology Consultation.
6. I have digestive problems, bad skin, trouble sleeping and brain fog. What should I eat?
If you want a magic pill or a quick fix for all your ailments, then I’m sorry… but I can’t help you. Actually, if you want to know the truth, no one can help you. Because there is no magic pill. Just look at how many people are sick in the world today.
Having a list of multiple symptoms simply shows that your body is out of balance. You may be deficient, toxic or have silent inflammation. These things can be reversed, but it takes time. You have to be committed to making real change. That doesn’t mean you are destined to eat plain lettuce for the rest of your life. But you will need some time to heal.
I offer 2 month or 6 month coaching packages. We work together via Skype, email or telephone. Usually we meet every 10-14 days. In between sessions, you are following my guidance, personalized for your symptoms and moving at the right pace for you. You receive a video recording of each call and a follow-up email with an Action List and a summary of what you have achieved since the last session. These emails become ‘mini milestones’ in your journey, and often my clients report that the emails are their favorite part of our work together. Well, they should be…because they signify your progress and transformation! For more information on health coaching, please go here.
7. I want to move to Thailand. Can you help?
I think any move and change of culture is an individual decision and also a financial one as well. I get asked about Thailand a lot from people, and all I can say is stay tuned…as I am currently writing an eBook on How to Move to a Tropical Country (i.e. Thailand)…simply due to popular demand. Every one of your emails do count, and I thank you for pushing me to write this book!
If you are looking for Thailand travel advice, then I highly suggest the www.thaivisa.com forum – on that website there are many, many people asking about life in Thailand, how much to pay for a house, what the visa situation is like and there are good people available to answer your questions with real-time information. My best suggestion for you is to visit a place before deciding to live there. Every country has its good and bad and there will never be a ‘perfect’ place. Thailand is no exception. I do wish you all the very best and I am sure with your will and determination, you will find the best place that suits your health and lifestyle needs!
8. Can I get some health advice for my mother, father, brother, sister, husband, wife, child, or co-worker?
It can be very difficult to watch your loved ones suffer with ill health. I am very sorry and sad to read emails of people’s suffering. This is the hardest part of my job. Many times by the time you might find me, you are already angry and frustrated that the medical doctors were not able to help. You may want to know the best food or advice for arthritis, colitis, ulcers, depression, cancer, infertility, bad skin, constipation, poor eyesight, weak liver, flu, colds, vomiting after eating fruits, getting rid of cellulite, dark circles under the eyes, foggy brain, depression, how to detox after botox, fatigue or weight gain (Yes, I think I’ve been asked it all!!).
The most important idea to embrace is that your real health lies not in just one food or supplement but rather a whole body approach, a whole diet approach and a whole lifestyle approach.
If you choose to hire me as a coach or for an Iridology session for either you or your loved one, rest assured that you are getting the best. Keep in mind that the average doctor spends 7 minutes with each patient. In your first session with me, you receive 55 minutes. I spend a lot of time explaining everything to you to be sure you understand your body and your health.
And you get so much more than health advice. You receive compassion. I listen. I follow-up with action lists based on what you tell me. Working with people on their journey to health is my full-time job and my life’s work. I value you for choosing to work with me!
9. Where can I study Iridology?
Great news that you are looking into studying Iridology! I personally only recommend the schools that are affiliated with the International Iridology Practitioner’s Association (IIPA) all of which are listed here: http://www.iridologyassn.org/IIPA-Classes.aspx
With those, you are sure to be able to get your International Iridology Certification, which in my opinion, is a good indicator of the quality of coursework and would be more easily applied to other modules of study. If you are looking at another course or teacher, an important question to ask is this: “Is your program accredited by the IIPA?” You will need to ask your teacher that question directly before you sign up or pay for the course. Please do not ask me about your particular teacher as I will only refer you to the IIPA accredited list of schools.
10. I have a skin rash. Do you think it’s the Ribo Rash?
If you are suffering from an itchy rash or skin problem, you may be running straight to Google and deciding that every rash you see and read about is yours. Yep, I’ve been there and done that myself. It can be scary, frustrating, and absolutely heartbreaking to suffer with a rash.
If you are asking me about your rash, please understand that if you don’t tell me anything, then I don’t know anything. Since Ribo Rash is a particular rash caused by a reaction to food additives, I need to know what you are eating. What you are eating is just as important as the rash, and perhaps the most important piece of the puzzle there is!
You will see when we work together, I am a detective when it comes to food. If you have a rash, I am going to ask you things that no doctor has ever asked. What kind of salt are you using? Do you add any spices to that, if so which ones? What country do your apples come from? Go check that label and tell me the ingredients. I will have you keeping a food journal, and I will study it in detail before each session. I’ll have plenty of questions for you. Why? Because the answer is in your FOOD, not in your skin! For rashes, I recommend the 2-month coaching package.
11. Do you offer private detox retreats?
Yes! My schedule is available and I update it often, so please check back or email me for more information. I hope to see you at the next retreat!
