Gallstone Flush & Liver Detox – Recipe & Cleanse Info

With the exception of the skin, the liver is the largest organ in the body and performs over 500 functions, far more than any other organ in the body. We cannot be healthy or recover from illness without a strong, clean well-functioning liver. If the liver is unable to carry out its full function, not only does it become congested and weak; all other organs will be more challenged as a result.

All information in this article is for educational purposes only.
It is not for the diagnosis, treatment, prescription or cure of any disease or health condition.

Imagine how much happier you liver feels after releasing these!

If you want to do more specific liver cleansing, you can try a Liver/Gallstone Flush at home. This flush can be done in just 24 hours, so it is easy to fit into a busy schedule. It is recommended that you have done a full 7-day cleanse prior to this flush, mainly to take the toxic pressure off your organs and to be sure that your body is alkaline.

In the days before the cleanse, it is important to avoid fried and fatty foods so your liver is not over-worked or stressed. Avoid avocado, cheese, nuts and fatty meats for at least 3 to 5 days before this cleanse. If you work a normal Monday – Friday work week, it is best to plan to do this cleanse on Friday night, that way you have the entire weekend to rest, relax and recover.

Mix Olive Oil and Fresh Lemon Juice in a bottle

The most common recipe to use for this cleanse comes from Dr. Hulda Clark’s book A Cure for All Diseases. If this is the first time you are trying this cleanse, I recommend that you use this formula, outlined below. If you release more than 200 stones in the first flush, it is recommended that you repeat the cleanse every 6-8 weeks until you have less than 20 stones come out. It is believed that you may have to release up to 2,000 stones to rid yourself of allergies linked to liver congestion. On my first Gallstone/Liver Flush, I released 600 stones – no joke!

Please note that with Dr. Clark’s recipe, she recommends using ornithine to help you sleep and she also recommends to do a parasite cleanse before you do the Gallstone Flush. If you want to do those things, that’s ok; personally I have never used ornithine and I’ve done this cleanse 13 times in the past 10 years. I did not do a parasite cleanse initially, although I have done them since…in my opinion you do not have to do a parasite cleanse prior to this flush, but admittedly you may get better results if you do so.

Preparation

Eat a diet high in alkaline-forming foods and low in fats for at least 3-5 days before the cleanse.

Help to gently prepare the liver by having a glass of fresh apple juice every day for 1 week prior to the cleanse. Apple juice helps to dissolve the stones.

Gallstone Live Flush Ingredients

  • Epsom salts (Magnesium Sulfate): 4 tablespoons. (You can usually buy this at your local pharmacy.)
  • Olive oil: 1/2 cup or 125 ml (light olive oil is easier to get down).
  • Fresh pink grapefruit: 1 large or 2 small, enough to squeeze 1/2 cup (125 ml) juice. (Or use 7-8 fresh lemons/limes: squeezed into 1/2 cup juice.)
  • 1 liter jar with lid.

Gallstone Liver Flush Instructions

Choose a day like Friday or Saturday for the cleanse, since you will be able to rest the next day. Take no medicines, vitamins or pills that you can do without; they could prevent success. Stop the parasite program too, the day before. Eat a no-fat breakfast and lunch such as cooked cereal, fruit, fruit juice, bread and preserves or honey (no butter or milk). This allows the bile to build up and develop pressure in the liver. Higher pressure pushes out more stones.

Mix Epsom Salts and Water, marking the bottles with a black marker to know how much to drink each time

2:00 PM. Do not eat or drink after 2 o’clock. If you break this rule you could feel quite ill later. Get your Epsom salts ready. Mix 4 Tbsp. in 3 cups (750 ml) water and pour this into a container or jar. This makes four servings, ¾ cup (185 ml) each. Set the jar in the refrigerator to get cold (this is for convenience and taste only). Note: I also make the 9:45pm drink described below at 2pm and I put it in the fridge, ready to drink later. Making all the drinks at my last meal makes me feel more committed to do the cleanse, and I can prepare everything while not feeling hungry. I highly recommend that you do this too, and do not allow any re-negotiation to skip the cleanse for another day just because you feel slightly hungry at 6pm.

6:00 PM. Drink one serving (¾ cup) of the Epsom salts and water drink. If you did not prepare this ahead of time, mix 1 tbs. in ¾ cup water now. You may add 1/8 tsp. vitamin C powder or 1/4 fresh lemon squeezed to improve the taste. You may also drink a few mouthfuls of water afterwards or rinse your mouth.

8:00 PM. Repeat by drinking another ¾ cup (185 ml) of Epsom salts and water drink. Get your bedtime chores done. The timing is critical for success.

9:45 PM. Pour ½ cup (measured) olive oil into the pint jar. Squeeze the citrus fruit (fresh grapefruit, lime or lemon) by hand into the measuring cup. Remove pulp with fork. You should have at least ½ cup. Add this to the olive oil. Close the jar tightly with the lid and shake hard until watery. Do not drink it yet!

Now visit the bathroom one or more time, even if it makes you late for your ten o’clock drink. Don’t be more than 15 minutes late. You will get fewer stones.

10:00 PM. Drink the potion you have mixed. Take it all to your bedside if you want, but drink it standing up. Get it down within 5 minutes (fifteen minutes for very elderly or weak persons).

Lie down immediately. You might fail to get stones out if you don’t. The sooner you lie down the more stones you will get out. Be ready for bed ahead of time. Don’t clean up the kitchen. As soon as the drink is down walk to your bed and lie down on your right side with your knees pulled up close to your chest. Try to think about what is happening in the liver. Try to keep perfectly still for at least 20 minutes. You may feel a train of stones traveling along the bile ducts like marbles. There is no pain because the bile duct valves are open (thank you Epsom salts!). Go to sleep, you may fail to get stones out if you don’t. Try to sleep in this position.

Next morning. Upon awakening (6:00 am) take your third dose of the Epsom salts and water drink. If you have indigestion or nausea wait until it is gone before drinking the Epsom salts. You may go back to bed. Don’t take this potion before 6:00 am.

8:00 am (2 Hours Later.) Take your fourth (the last) dose of the Epsom salts and water. You may go back to bed again.

After 2 More Hours you may eat. Start with fruit juice (see note below). Half an hour later eat fruit (see note below). One hour later you may eat regular food but keep it light. By supper you should feel recovered.

*NOTE – Fresh apple juice is the best juice to break the fast. At 10:00am, make fresh apple juice using 5-6 large apples in a juicer and drink it. The apple juice helps dissolve gallstones and is a nice transition for the liver from the detox back to normal eating. After 30 minutes, prepare a chopped apple salad or a plain apple smoothie using 3-4 apples (with the skin is ok). If feeling unwell, stay with apples and apple juice for the entire day. Only transition to light foods, salads and regular eating when you are feeling good again.

How well did you do? Expect diarrhea in the morning. Use a flashlight to look for gallstones in the toilet with the bowel movement. Look for the green kind since this is proof that they are genuine gallstones, not food residue. Only bile from the liver is pea green. The bowel movement sinks but gallstones float because of the cholesterol inside. Count them all roughly, whether tan or green. You will need to total 2000 stones before the liver is clean enough to rid you of allergies or bursitis or upper back pains permanently. The first cleanse may rid you of them for a few days, but as the stones from the rear travel forward, they give you the same symptoms again. You may repeat cleanses at two week intervals. Never cleanse when you are [acutely] ill.

Sometimes the bile ducts are full of cholesterol crystals that did not form into round stones. They appear as a “chaff” floating on top of the toilet bowl water. It may be tan colored, harboring millions of tiny white crystals. Cleansing this chaff is just as important as purging stones.

How safe is the liver cleanse? It is very safe. My opinion is based on over 500 cases, including many persons in their seventies and eighties. None went to the hospital; none even reported pain. However it can make you feel quite ill for one or two days afterwards, although in every one of these cases the maintenance parasite program had been neglected. This is why the instructions direct you to complete the parasite and kidney cleanse programs first.

CONGRATULATIONS

You have taken out your gallstones without surgery! I like to think I have perfected this recipe, but I certainly can not take credit for its origin. It was invented hundreds, if not thousands, of years ago, THANK YOU, HERBALISTS!

Gallstones can be flushed easily and naturally with no pain!

This procedure contradicts many modern medical viewpoints. Gallstones are thought to be formed in the gallbladder, not the liver. They are thought to be few, not thousands. They are not linked to pains other than gallbladder attacks. It is easy to understand why this is thought: by the time you have acute pain attacks, some stones are in the gallbladder, are big enough and sufficiently calcified to see on X-ray, and have caused inflammation there. When the gallbladder is removed the acute attacks are gone, but the bursitis and other pains and digestive problems remain.

Gallstones Released Naturally

The truth is self-evident. People who have had their gallbladder surgically removed still get plenty of green, bile-coated stones, and anyone who cares to dissect their stones can see that the concentric circles and crystals of cholesterol match textbook pictures of “gallstones” exactly.

I have done a cleanse before with rather interesting results. As soon as I drank down the olive oil and lemon, within 15 minutes I needed to throw up. And I did. Quite violently. And only threw up yellow bile. Bright yellow thick bile. I can honestly say I have never had a stronger urge to throw up in my life. Can anyone explain this to me? The only way I wouod even consider this process again is because my liver levels on a blood test were way too high for ALT and AST and my body is not getting any vitamins or nutrients it needs. I know this because my hair is falling out to the point where I am seeing my scalp and im losing muscle mass and I feel tired and sleep almost 18hrs a day. I have been to a dr and there suggestion was a liver biopsy. In trying to avoid that I trying to help my liver with this approach. No I dont drink, I quit smoking, and I stick to a good diet. Help.

Started this yesterday. I’m very pleased with the results. I was very reluctant to give it a try. I was thinking it would be unsuccessful or I would have some of the nausea others have experienced. But I slept straight through the night. No discomfort or pain. The drink wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be either. I’m looking forward to doing this every two weeks until I have relieved my liver of stones.

Thank you for the gallbladder flush. It was an amazing experience. After beginning at 6pm, at about 7pm I tried to ignore my desire to eat. It went and I completed the steps and went straight to bed & laid down on right side. I could feel activity under my rib cage. It was a sort of pressure. Every hour I woke up. At 2 pm I had an urge to go to the toilet. The stool looked firm. I returned to bed and woke up in a cold sweat and felt hot and naueous as well. I sat up to go to the toilet and felt very dizzy. Once I made it to the toilet I experienced diarrhea and great pressure when leaving my body. It was a relief. I could see many stones floating, various sizes, all greenish. I returned to bed and woke up again with the same sensations and visited the toilet same results but also threw up but it was clear with hint of lemon consumed previous night. I woke up a 6.30 and felt a whole lot better,no nausea or urgency to visit toilet. Thank you again.

I would NOT recommend this cleanse or any detox to a pregnant or breastfeeding mother. The best time to cleanse is 6 months BEFORE becoming pregnant and/or AFTER breastfeeding months are complete. For more information, please refer to my post called Is it safe to detox while pregnant or breastfeeding? In between, the mother should be building her vitamin and mineral reserve with a nutrient-dense diet and plenty of alkaline fruits and vegetables. Be well and blessings to your health!

Hi Paige, If you ate a high-fat diet in the days before the flush, you will not experience good results. Also, if you moved too much after drinking the last drink or if you did not follow the instructions with stopping to eat at 2pm or if you were constipated before started the flush – all of those factors can affect your results.

What a terrific outcome with many stones and one the size of my thumb nail. Other site showed me how to place a sieve ( i used a sandbox sieve from old beach toys) to catch the stones in the morning.. that plus having maple syrup handy to place on my tongue after epsom salts and using a straw to help with taste would be the only things i’d add to this successful flush! I cleaned out hundreds and had more energy today than i’ve had in a long time… thank you for this recipe, it truly saved my health..

If you break the fast on fried foods, processed foods, high MSG-content foods (soup made with soup stock), chemical-laden foods, etc then you are at risk for having a reaction to the method of re-tox. If everything is done correctly, you should not have any chest pains. Of course, for any questions regarding medical conditions or severe pain, you should contact your medical doctor immediately. I did this whole detox and liver gall bladder flush lastnight. Although I do feel better than I have I more than a week… I did not see any stones. I have been dealing with mygall bladder for over ten years. I refuse to have it out and was hoping this flush would produce better results. I followed the procedure outlined above and and disapointed to have not found any stones at all. There was nothing floating on the top of the water other than some waste. I used a rubber glove to see if they were hard, but they were not.

HI Lenie, If you ate high-fat foods in the days before the cleanse, you will not get stones (this is the biggest mistake I see people making). If you moved too much, you will not get stones. If you had too much stress or worry, this will also affect your results! Some people get a lot of ‘chuff’ which is almost like a sandy debris – these are not stones but considered a great success as they are also a sign of excess debris in the liver and can create inflammation on their own. Blessings to your health!

i have done the cleanse a couple of times because i had to go to the hospital back in November because the pain was so intense and of course the first thing the doctors want to do is have my gallbladder removed and i have just heard some cases where people had it removed and they still have problems if not more. every time i have done the cleanse i have had great results and have felt much better and the pain was gone. i just did another cleanse because i started having some discomfort which i was surprised because i have been really strict on my diet but this pain wasnt like the pain i felt the first time i had a gallbladder attack. i did the cleanse and i am still having the pain its like a burning pain in my stomach. went to the doctor and they said it could be acid re flux and heartburn and ulcers but they also think it could be my gallbladder i just don’t know what to do because i did the cleanse and i thought that it would help my pain. shouldn’t the cleanse make any kind of pain associated with the gallbladder to stop? and do you think that since i did the cleanse that maybe it is acid re flux and heartburn and not my gallbladder? i just don’t know what else to do because i have been on a diet to help gallbladder i have been doing your cleanses and i am still having pain and so many people are telling me i should just get it taken out but i would really like to keep it. can someone just have a bad gallbladder?

    Hi Jennifer,
I just had a GB ultrasound and found that I have 5-10 stones that may be causing my attacks. I haven’t had one for awhile now since I’ve changed my diet.
I am nervous to start the cleanse, hoping to get rid of these stones and whatever residue is behind it.
What is the largest size stone you’ve heard that has passed? My only concern is that the one that I have is about 2cm(20mm) and would the epsom salts and oil be able to soften and move freely?
What also have you heard about Gold Coin Grass? I heard also that it can help soften and loosen the stones but it will take longer.

Hi John, I had one client reverse cirrhosis of the liver from doing this cleanse with massive change of diet and lifestyle (He repeated the cleanse many times over a 2-year period). His doctor told him he was ‘crazy’ but he is no longer yellow, tired and sickly and he is the biggest advocate of this cleanse that I know! As for ultrasounds, I cannot recall any case in particular; most people do not bother going back to the doctor when they are feeling good in the same way that most people don’t take their car in when it is running fine. If you hear of any particular cases, please feel free to share!

@arizonakeith – I do have a question. There is a lot of debate as to where these things really come from, whether or not they originate in the liver or gallbladder, or can be categorized as “stones” at all. I’ve read everything from saponified olive oil to precipitations of materials within the bowel (excrement). I’m wondering if Jennifer could speak to that on the forum. Wondering what’s the real story and data to back that up.

Hi Keith, I have done the cleanse about 15 times; in the early years I had many stones removed (more than 600 on my first try!). Now, with additional cleansing and change of diet, when I do this cleanse, I might have 10 stones or less. So, the ‘theory’ that it is just olive oil does not make sense, because if that were true, I should get the same amount out every time. All I can say is try the cleanse for yourself and decide. Hope that helps!

44 year old male, over 200 stones just this morning. I actually went to an MD yesterday who prescribed both blood work and an RUQ sonogram which came up CLEAN (hmph!). While he did not discourage me from doing the cleanse, he didn’t expect that any stones would pass or that the treatment would offer me any relief. Can’t wait to show him my little specimen jar! Still have one more epsom drink; so the tally may rise… Thanks, Jennifer, for sharing.

Thanks for all of the great info, Jennifer! I just love your site. I am curious about something though. I would think that with you being on such a healthful diet…you wouldn’t have gallstones. Especially 400 since your last flush. How does this happen, since I thought being on a standard American diet was the cause of gallstones?

      Hi Amanda,

One does not erase 40 years of eating in one gallstone flush. The liver is a large organ (up to 4 pounds) and will not eliminate all stones at one time. It takes a series of flushes to get them out, and over time as one does subsequent flushes, they will notice that the number of stones decreases significantly especially when they have also changed the diet to a healthy low-fat, no fried food, vegan, plant-based diet. The process of detox and cleansing is a process, in the same way that it can take a long time to clean a house….and when you start to pull out furniture and drawers, you see even more work that needs to be done! The good news is that the body responds very well and quickly to positive change, so you can expect to start feeling better and better if you commit to some cleansing with a good change of diet. In the last flush I did, I released about 15-20 stones and I had not done a gallstone flush in over 18 months. This, in my opinion, is a very good result. I hope that helps!

      Blessings, Jennifer

      Hello Jessica,

The standard herbal formula for a parasite cleanse includes black walnut, wormwood and clove combined with a cleansing diet high in raw garlic with no sugar, alcohol or wheat for a period of 3-4 weeks. For further details, I would suggest scheduling an online session so we can personalize your detox based on your body, taking into account any areas of inflammation, stress or toxicity.

      Thanks,
      Jennifer

    Hi Jennifer
You say, that it is wise to eat a diet high in alkaline-forming foods and low in fats for at least 3-5 days before the cleanse.
Can you please briefly outline what you would recommend?
    Thanks

35 year old male, and all I can say is thank you!! First time around, I literally passed over 500 stones! My energy level is as high now as when I was 18! I’m not sure if anyone else has had this happen, but my vision is also 100 times better after this cleanse. My body was in need of this, and I want to thank you so much for forwarding this information on!
I have learned to pinch my nose and chug down the solutions…not bad at all after a little mouth rinse! I would recommend this cleanse to anyone having symptoms relating to gallbladder attacks! I just saved a ton of money by doing this, and I still have my gallbladder!

Great news on your cleanse! I just recently did this flush myself for the 14th time (in 10 years). The last 2 times I did the flush, I had to throw up in the middle of the night, about 4am both times, like clock-work. It was disappointing to vomit after making all the preparations, but as many people know this can happen during this cleanse. I didn’t really know why it happened after 11 times of doing it successfully. Recently I completed a 40-day water fast where I released over 15 feet of parasites (ascaris roundworm). Last night when I did the flush for the 14th time, I also woke up at about 4am (5 hours after taking the ‘cocktail’) feeling quite ill, but I managed to keep everything down.

My conclusion for all of these reactions goes back to Dr. Hulda Clark explaining that within each gallstone lies a dead parasite which the body sees as a toxin and therefore packs fat around to protect itself (This is one theory as to why gallstones form anyway). If that is true, it could explain why my body, when so infested with parasites, could not handle the flush and ‘rejected’ the drink. I take it as a good sign that last night I was able to complete the flush, especially after releasing so many parasites in recent months. I’ve been passing gallstones all day today, probably about 400 in total. During the night, my head became full of mucous and all day I have had a runny nose and feel like I have the flu. Things are happening for sure!

All I can say is that this cleanse is powerful and effective. I also felt that my body really needed this, especially after the water fast.

As a follow-up to this, all flu-like symptoms were gone within 24 hours. Probably would have cleared sooner had I done an enema, but I was feeling too lethargic at the time to do it! On Post-Cleanse Day #2, I drank a lot of Puerrh Tea, a fermented raw tea from China which helps the liver digest fats, and I do think this also helped to take the excess burden off the liver. Healthy blessings to all!

      Hello Cindy,

Yes, they can. But they should prepare for the cleanse more than average, especially taking the time to get alkaline in the diet. Otherwise, they may end up just throwing the ‘final drink’ right back up. Most likely, their diet was not so great (high in fat or fried foods) or they engaged in too much exercise to become deficient in organic sodium which is why they had to have the gallbladder removed in the first place. A gentle path back to health and balance would be the best plan.

The gallstones being released are a actually in the liver, and during this cleanse they drop into the small intestine via the portal vein. As long as you have all of those parts intact, you should be able to do this cleanse. Hope that helps. 🙂

Regular grape juice would not give you the same effect for this particular cleanse. You can use any other citrus juice, such as fresh squeezed orange, lemon or lime. Hope that helps!

The parasite cleanse should vary according to the individual based on whether or not they have done any type of cleansed before, where they have strength and weakness in their elimination organs (kidneys, skin, lungs, liver and colon), what their current diet is like and how much time they are willing to dedicate to the cleanse. Best to book a private session with me so we can optimize your parasite cleansing program!

The formula is the same for everyone…being thin should not affect how much you drink. Conversely, if you are larger in size, you should not drink more of of the drink.

Does it matter if you are thin? I only weigh 103 pounds. Would the amount you have to drink remain the same?
Also, have you heard of people with gallbladder problems having pain in the upper right quadrant, upper thigh / groin area and low grade fever? I am at a lost on this. I’ve been experiencing this for 7 yrs off and on. I am having an ultrasound done tomorrow, but somehow don’t feel confident it will reveal anything as all prior tests never showed anything. I’ve been told it must be muscular/skeletal? If that were true, I would not get a low grade fever during these attacks.

You can be thin and still have gallstones. I had one client with chronic knee pain, so bad that he scheduled surgery. After doing several gallstone flushes, he passed one large gallstone and the knee pain immediately disappeared, never to return. Needlesstosay, he canceled the surgery. True story!!

I’ve done two flushes now but I’m not happy with the results, the first flush produced about 50 stones and the second only about 15. I’m about to do a third flush but I’m looking into ways of achieving greater results. You mention sleep as being pivotal to releasing the stones, on both of my flushes I’ve barely slept at all – probably due to anxiety about the flush, and I just want to know if you had any more comments on the relationship between sleep and the release of stones.

    Thanks 🙂

Hi Pamela, In my experience I find the most important part of sleeping is that it allows your body to remain still. Additionally, It is important not to eat any fats in the days before the flush – even good fats such as avocado and coconut oil can slow the liver down and diminish your results. You may also want to increase the dosage of olive oil to lemon juice ratio and see if that helps. Let me know how it goes!

    Hi Skylor,
If you are eating or have eaten a Standard American Diet, then you most likely have some gallstones. The success of this cleanse depends on how alkaline your body is – if you are acidic, you are much more likely to have unsuccessful results. Also, having done some colon cleansing beforehand increases your chances of passing stones easily. Most people pass a few ‘pellets’ although some pass ‘chaff’ or even thick sludge. Oh joy!

I suffered from stomach pain and burning mostly, couldn’t sleep well and just hated those extra pounds I couldn’t get rid of no matter what I did. Now I stumbled upon this system that is easy and it doesn’t require expensive medication or difficult exercises.

Yes, it’s not the most refreshing taste that’s for sure…but well worth it. I just had a friend do this cleanse for the first time ever; he was a skeptic at first but when he passed a stone the size of a quarter, he was convinced!
