If we are willing to offer you the chance of a clean, fresh start to your health and well-being for 2013, you better believe that we believe in what we do and we believe in you too!

Just in case you don’t know what a Vitamix is, it’s a blender. That means it blends the fiber and the liquid of whatever you put inside. It is not a juicer (a juicer separates the fiber from the liquid, leaving only the liquid for you to drink). A blender is very practical for busy people because it takes a just a few minutes to prepare your creation, is very easy to clean, and with a blender, you get all the nutrients from your food plus you get the fiber too. Most people are simply not eating enough fiber in their daily diet; the result can lead to poor digestion, acid reflux, arthritis, bad skin, weak liver, sluggishness, foul breath and even restless sleep. Getting fiber in your diet is so easy when you simply have 1 healthy smoothie a day. Add superfoods to your smoothie and you can really maximize the power of your foods to get the most fiber, nutrients, minerals and chlorophyll – all valuable tools for healing and all elements needed to make you feel that Healthy Bliss!

The ‘BMW’ of blender motors!

It’s the dream blender of every raw foodist and health enthusiast I know, including me! The reason why the Vitamix Blender is considered the best blender on the market is because it has an excellent motor, it’s extremely well made and it’s guaranteed for 7 years. You can blend anything in this blender thanks to that motor, even an avocado seed, it’s true! This is a blender that lasts for life; that’s why people pay a lot for it, because it’s really a long-term investment in your health. I am really excited to have the chance to give this away because I’ve seen the change that my clients have made, and I know that good food is the key.

There are so many positive changes I’ve made, but I think the most important change I’ve made to my diet is getting rid of chemically processed genetically modified food. I used to have really bad breathing issues due to asthma, and cutting out foods that contain chemicals like MSG and just GMO foods in general has helped me get my breathing back to normal. I also drink smoothies everyday, and will be boosting my smoothies w/ Garden of Life RAW Meal replacement as soon as my shipment gets here. I’d totally love a Vitamix for that! Good luck to everyone entering this contest — everyone deserves to have a Vitamix. Happy Holidays! 🙂

The most influential thing I did for myself was to put my health first above all else. I was a really sick child and was often ill for at least a week at a time several times a year. This was a constant battle and finally in 2006 I decided enough was enough. I gave up meet, dairy, processed foods, and limited my sugar to fruits. Before I started I didn’t know if it would work but I HAD to try something new. I have lost 70 lbs, I feel amazing and have cut my sick days down to a minimum. My healthy lifestyle choices have allowed me to live my life more fully and that is the best thing anyone can do for themselves.

I have made the transition from drinking coffee to drinking caffeine-free green and black teas. The independence is nice!!

Also, lifting weights has toned & sculpted my body into a whole different thing than it was two years ago. from a size 10 down to a 6, and sometimes 6’s are loose! Feels good to be at a healthy level of life again.

This year I cut back big on processed carbs. It’s made a world of difference for me. I don’t get blood sugar mood swings anymore where I’d either be super hyper-sick to my stomach feeling at the high, or lethargic and sleepy when I’d crash. It’s also helped to break my carb cravings. I can say no to things like pasta and cake and not feel deprived. I satisfy myself with the stomach fullness feeling instead through high quality proteins and fats–without gaining weight!

There are three changes I made to my life diet this year that are continuing to show improved results in my overall health. 1. Renewing my yoga routine. Somewhere along the line this practice was lost over the past two years and my body and peace of mind paid the price. Not only does yoga serve as a way to keep fit, but for me, it more so allows me a time of peaceful meditation and to center myself. As a result, my nerves aren’t easily frayed and life stresses are taken in stride without being shaken to my core. 2. Increasing my water intake. My skin is more naturally moisturized and breakouts are slowly diminishing. And simply put, my body is just more hydrated and it thanks me. 🙂 3. Regulating my sleep cycle. For those who never suffered from long bouts of insomnia, sleep may be a thing taken for granted, but lack of adequate rest can wreak havoc to one’s health. But with slightly changing my eating times, waking up at the same time everyday and renewing my yoga routine, my rest at night is more peaceful and rejuvenating. Those are the changes I made to my life diet this year and now I’m ready to tackle my food diet. I desire to introduce more vegetarian meals and regular green smoothies into my meal planning and of course winning the Vitamix would help me in jump-starting it. Thank you for hosting this awesome giveaway and for sharing wonderful knowledge!

I met you in 2009 Jennifer. I had been diagnosed with a degree of permanent lung damage (bronchiectasis) and the NHS doctors over here in the UK gave me advice that wasn’t sitting well with me.

You advised me to give up wheat, dairy and artificial sugars.

I followed your advice (a huge diet change – but an amazing one!) and my condition became instantly manageable. I failed on the green juice front though. There’s been a mountain to climb ..

I have had chronic fatigue the past two years (from over-working) and my good diet slipped as I became madly busy.

My new year plan (start date 3rd January!) is to do a juice fast at home in early January, return to a healthy diet, get into green juices (which I know I should’ve done before – your email was a timely reminder!) … get fit .. and shake off this monster for good. Yey!!

To your good health in 2013. And everyone here. x

I totally eliminated salt from my diet this year. Well, I say totally meaning any salt in my diet doesn’t come from me. I realize practically everything you buy has some amount of sodium, but I am very careful, reading labels, avoiding processed foods at all costs. The jury’s still out on the benefits. I’m hoping it will help as I fight against high blood pressure/heart disease; but truly my diets been good for years (minus cooking with salt, even low amounts), and the main culprit appears to be genetics. Still, I fight on, and this is the latest defense. By the way, no salt substitutes made by the salt companies for me; using herb seasonings only.

It’s a time saver for the working woman (or man). For those who claim they don’t like veggies……….Surprise!!! They get them in smoothies and think they are getting a real treat.. I still have a lot of bad habits (mainly caffeine and white sugar), but my family has done very well in eliminating “white” carbs from our diet. For years, we’ve been eating whole grain bread, pasta, and of course whole “grains” too. Because of my other bad habits, I can’t say that I have seen a health improvement from this alone. Getting rid of the sugar is my top priority!

It started with giving up dairy products for me. Then the next thing was processed meat…lunch meat & sandwiches. I have adopted a mostly chegan (cheating vegan) diet. I eat a small amount of good quality meat upon occasion, but mostly I eat my veggies. I also went for about 6 weeks without anything but fructose, no sugar, but have fallen off the wagon a little bit with the holidays. I’ve lost weight and feel better. I still have a way to go, but I’m loving la vida mostly vegan.

In August 2012, I made the choice to become a vegetarian. Being from rural Mississippi, meat has always been a MAJOR component in my diet and the options for vegetarians and vegans are slim to none. However, with a lot of help from Twitter, I have come across many new ideas on how to prepare for and live a healthier lifestyle. Since August, I have lost 50+ lbs (a feat which I STILL cannot believe). Still, I strive to become HEALTHIER. As a child, I was diagnosed with IBS and find myself struggling with digestion, as I am certain I am not receiving enough fiber. As time passes and I learn more, I’m sure my body will be stronger than it has ever been.

I went lacto-ovo vegetarian January 2010, and have had fish probably once every two months since July 2011. All in all, I feel swifter, both mentally and physically.

Seven months back, I moved to South India, the land of vegetarians. There are plenty vegetable and fruit vendors in walking distance from my spot, selling locally grown produce early morning through late night. There are fresh juice shops scattered throughout my neighborhood, where one can find a wide range of fresh juices.

A positive change in my diet would be having a blender to kick off the new year, to fully absorb the nutritious options surrounding me:

    1. Make fresh smoothies at home

    2. Make idli batter, a popular and healthy South Indian rice/lentil-based steamed cake to have with coconut chutney and lentil soup

    3. Directly support local vendors/business

    4. Save money from creating myself

A positive change that I made in my diet is cutting out as much processed and prepared foods as I possibly can. I still keep a box of granola bars so I can have a quick snack in my purse if I forget to plan ahead but that is all. By cutting out all boxed cereals and crackers it forces me to use the healthy options available to me. So I cook breakfast everyday instead of the nutritionally void cereal and I grab a piece of fruit when I’m needing a snack instead of crackers or granola bars. It’s given me more energy and also a self esteem boost to know that I am taking care of myself. The best part about it though is seeing my husband make himself a salad instead of grabbing the bag of chips when he wants a snack. Love it. Thanks for the opportunity. I love making us smoothies as a healthy breakfast and great way to sneak in more veggies but unfortunately my blender is on it’s last leg. This would be a HUGE blessing!

Cool giveaway, by the way. 😉 One of the most major changes I did to improve my health was to start drinking green smoothies. I’ve also increased my intake of raw foods in the form of fruits and leafy greens. I do not drink alcoholic beverages and sodas anyway, but I have increased my intake of water and sometimes I squeeze lemon or lime on it. I loooove fresh coconut water and sometimes I use it as base of my green smoothies. Since then, I’ve felt so energetic and light. I’m so happy and grateful for my health and new healthy habits. 🙂

God bless you! 🙂 Have a good one!

After 2 years of bouncing doctor to doctor and taking every sort of test to figure out what is wrong with me, I made it to an allergist who gave me two very common food allergies that I had no idea I had. By eliminating those foods (milk and bananas) and replacing them with nut butters, I suddenly have energy. Cooking at home helps but a reputable nutritionist may have saved my life.

    Hi, Jen:
A positive change I have made to my eating style is to consume all my fruit in the morning and not mix it with other denser foods, like nuts, grains, seeds. This is a form of Food Combining principle that really helps to promote complete digestion without a lot of flatulence (gas for those who never heard the word flatulence).
But I also learned that when fruit is combined with a fat, for example, almond butter on a banana, the insulin that the body produces cannot effectively reach the banana because it is “insulated” by the fat (almond butter). Could this be a cause of the insulin resistance we hear of so much lately?
Greens (spinach, kale, etc.) DO combine well with fruits, so green smoothies, as long as seeds, coconut and other dense foods aren’t added, are very healthy to consume. If I win the new VitaMix, I will give my current one to my son, who is a student and cannot afford one right now. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I win!
    Thank you.

Only one change? LOL. How about many?

A year and a half ago, my blood sugar took a nose dive and has continued to be a daily problem so … I’ve radically changed my diet to include lots of high-quality protein, greens and very limited sugars/carbs–including, grains, fruits, high-sugar veggies (e.g., sweet potatoes) and really no refined sugars at all (sniff).

A few months ago, I invested in food sensitivity testing and found out that a few more foods are problematic for me beyond gluten, which I’ve known about for years. As a result, in addition to sugar, I’ve eliminated eggs, soy, dairy, sesame, rice and coffee from my diet.

On the upside, knowing that my food choices were impacting my health, I committed to a six month natural foods cooking program earlier this year. It was kind of fun and interesting.

Now, I’d like to get this healing process going full steam and start incorporating more raw/green foods–specifically nutrient-dense smoothies in my diet–but the food processor really hasn’t been getting the job done. Need me an impressive blender. 😉

A positive change I made last February was going on a highly raw diet, overnight, green smoothies twice a day (morning and evening) and a raw meal in the afternoon. My digestion improved dramatically and after 38 years, I’ve finally known what good digestion means. I didn’t eat many vegetables, let alone seeds or fruit, so I didn’t know many of them. I’ve been greatly surprised by all the wonderful flavors I’ve discovered and had missed most of my life. More benefits? clear skin, stronger nails, weight loss and best of all… A super powerful immune system. I haven’t gotten a flu, sore throat or even a common cold ever since I changed my eating habits. I’ve been a teacher for 20 years and I throat infections had always been a recurrent problem for me, at least, 6 times a year so imagine my life without having anything cold, icecream and always wearing a sweater. Now, I enjoy iced-smoothies any time I want to, regardless of the weather conditions. And of course, the health benefits my family has received without being so RAW, are noticeable. Thanks!!!

Small changes over the months can add up to big changes over the year! On Jen’s advice, I upped the fibre and add 2 tbsp of ground flaxseed to as many meals as possible. I start the day with a big glass of water beside the bed and have drastically reduced the amount and frequency of alcohol consumed during the weeks. I’m trying to make small, healthy decisions more often (salad instead of fries type of menu decisions), cut out the diet drinks completely, etc. I’d like to add smoothies and juices in the morning – a Vitamix would be the Grand-Daddy of all blenders to get the day going!

One change I’m really proud of is that I stopped eating the free (but possibly poisonous) lunches offered at my workplace. I made it a goal to go the 9 weeks without eating them and I did it! Lost weight, feel better and will keep it up in the New Year.

A positive chance that I have made in my diet is not eating an gluten products. Although this change was a positive one, it was one I was instantly forced to make with no time to slowly transfer my diet to. On December 12th, 2012, I was admitted into the emergency room at Moose Jaw’s Moose Jaw Union Hospital (MJUH). On December 13th, 2012 my whole diet needed to change. When I first arrived at the MJUH I had already been in the thought process of turning my life around and starting a clean lifestyle had joined Double Shift Conditioning’s fitness class “90 Minutes of Insanity” as well as increasing my yoga practice but my diet wasn’t really something I considered altering as I am paying off a student loan and saving up to go back to school in 2014. After being admitted into MJUH and having multiple tests done and medications prescribed, I was diagnosed with Celiac’s Disease. Although my change in diet is recent, it has still made positive changes in my life: finally no bloating, no stomach pain, more energy, my skin is clearing up, I notice a change in my mood, I am able to sleep!! and the list goes on. My level of gratitude and appreciation, my level of joy, excitement and happiness would be through-the-roof if I was blessed with winning this contest as it would greatly expand my ability to make foods that I am able to eat without harming my body – AND FOODS I ENJOY. I miss my breads!! It would cut down on the time it takes me to grocery shop as I have to check the ingredient on everything to verify I can eat it. Winning the Vitamix contest would greatly benefit me in a way I cannot begin to express – besides tears of joy and yelps of pure happiness.

The one positive change I have made in my diet is limiting the amount of sugar, dairy, and meat I consume, as well as increasing my fruit and vegetable intake. I now have more energy, less health issues, and a wonderful outlook on life. It’s amazing how well our bodies can perform once we start to take charge of our health!
