If you struggle with finding ways to eat and be healthy while living on the go, fear no more. There is a way to combine health with an active, social lifestyle. It doesn’t require that much effort, just a few wise choices.

Simply remember this:

1) Do the best you can with what you have.

2) Always try to make a slightly better choice.

You can apply this formula to virtually every situation, and still be making improvements everywhere you go.

Eating Right Doesn’t Have To Slow You Down

Start looking for what healthy options are around you. You may have never noticed the fruit stand on your corner or the fresh juice bar in the mall. There are better choices all over the place – it’s just a matter of integrating them into your life.

Plan a healthy night potluck with friends – just one night of eating healthy and creating a social network around it. Pretty soon, you will be looking forward to the next gathering, and learning new recipes to share with your loved ones!

Don’t be afraid to order off the menu. If you find yourself in a restaurant with no salads, just create one. Look for what veggies are in other dishes, and ask for a special salad using what’s available. You can request a simple dressing made of olive oil and vinegar. I do this everywhere I go and have never had a problem, in fact many times people see what I get and regret that they didn’t order it too!

Don’t just eat to fill time or because everyone else is eating.

Listen to your body and only eat when you are hungry.

Plan a little bit and have healthy options for when you do get hungry. If you know you will be out all day, bring some fresh fruit or nuts or a pre-prepared meal for yourself. That way you have no reason to even go into the convenience store and be tempted by the aisles of junk food.

One bad meal isn’t going to destroy your health.

Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t find anything healthy. If you find yourself in a place with no healthy alternatives, just do the best with what you have. There is no room for guilt in a healthy body!

Take the time bring your own food on the plane and research healthy restaurants when you travel. It only takes a minute to google a place and will save you from just eating whatever, wherever. You can make your traveling more interesting and fun if you integrate your new healthy habits into your lifestyle and may actually meet more like-minded people as well!
